Pūnana Leo o Maui

Hours of operation: 7:30am–5:00pm

Pūnana Leo o Maui (PLOM) is located at Wailuku, Hawai‘i in a classroom on the grounds of the Kaʻahumanu Church. The school first opened its doors on November 10, 1987. Pūnana Leo o Maui has since served over 600 families.

Special facts about Pūnana Leo o Maui:

  • PLOM is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children

  • PLOM produces and coordinates Holoholo Kaʻa, an interactive event with transportation vehicles and young children, every November

  • PLOM produces and coordinates the annual benefit Hawaiian music concert, Hoʻomau, in March

  • PLOM participates in the opening ceremonies for Makahiki at Old Lāhaina Lūʻau and closing ceremonies at UH Maui College

  • Nā Leo Pūlama o Maui, the non-profit parent group, is establishing a new Pūnana Leo and family language resource facility

  •  PLOM participates in the annual Maui County Fair

  • PLOM often visits Hawaiian cultural sites such as Paeloko Taro Patch, Nohoʻana Farm and Kō‘ie‘ie Loko I‘a

  • Children participate in Hawaiian cultural practices such as making poi, laulau and limu preparation
